Amman, April 12 (Petra) -- The value of certificates of origin issued by the Amman Chamber of Commerce for exports to Arab and foreign countries rose by 30.9 percent in the first quarter of this year compared with the same period last year.

According to the chamber’s statistical data, export value reached JD406 million in the first quarter, up from JD310 million in the corresponding period of 2025. The number of certificates of origin issued during the period stood at 6,830, compared with 7,263 certificates in the same quarter last year.

Data showed that the certificates were distributed across several key markets, led by Syria with 1,286 certificates, followed by the United Arab Emirates with 1,030, Iraq with 600, Egypt with 191, and Switzerland with 19.

In terms of value, exports were highest to Iraq at JD156 million, followed by Switzerland at JD92 million, Egypt at around JD23 million, Syria at JD21 million, and the United Arab Emirates at approximately JD21 million.

Exports during the first quarter included foreign goods valued at about JD158 million, industrial products at JD53 million, Arab-origin goods at roughly JD53 million, and agricultural products at around JD32 million, among others.

A certificate of origin is an international trade document certifying that goods in a particular shipment are produced, manufactured, or processed in a specific country. It is used by customs authorities to determine applicable tariffs and verify the origin of goods.

The Amman Chamber of Commerce issues certificates of origin for Jordanian agricultural and animal products, raw natural resources, re-exported foreign goods, and foreign goods purchased from the local market under specific conditions. It also issues certificates for Jordanian industrial products upon request by exporters, based on an original factory invoice certified by an industrial chamber and a duly authenticated certificate confirming Jordanian origin.
